The year 2020 will be memorable for many reasons, but arguably the most significant of them all is the fact that it will see mankind reach the final stage of its space race with Earth. This was a race that had been going on almost as long as mankind itself and which has only intensified in the last few years.

The objective was clear gain access to resources beyond our planet and establish a colony far away from home where we can become energy-independent from fossil fuels and which are available 24/7, 365 days a year. If successful, this would mean that mankind could one day live in space without ever having to leave our homes again!

To achieve this, various countries around the world have invested huge amounts of money into research and development of equipment and projects that would allow them to journey into deep space and set up colonies there. This article does not deal with all these projects or their details; it focuses instead on how you can use today’s date of 2024 to plan your future starting with what you want to achieve in the new year.

Plan your future with the New Year!

Motivation for your success

Before you start the new year with a bang, try to plan out your future with the New Year. It might sound simple, but it’s actually one of the most effective ways to set goals and make sure you stay focused on them. We all have a plan for when we start a new year, but what happens when you actualize it just a few months later?

We all know what happens when we don’t follow through – failure and sadness. So, it’s better to make sure you set goals for the new year and then work towards them until you achieve them. With all these projects or their details; it focuses instead on how you can use today’s date of 2023 to plan your future starting with what you want to achieve in the new year.

Set 2025 as a deadline year

Motivation for your success

The year 2025 is a deadline year for a lot of space projects. It’s when we’re supposed to leave Earth for good and set a new destination. If we can make it there in one piece, we’ll have achieved something very special. If for some reason, we fail to achieve this in 2025, then we will have to start all over again the following year.

This is known as a “Yikes!” factor, so it’s better to give yourself some room for error. If you’re really unfortunate, then you might have to start the whole process all over again in the next 5-10 years.

2025 as when you want to leave Earth

Motivation for your success

It’s clear that we’re very close to being space-independent, and there are a number of projects and activities being specifically developed with this in mind. One such project is the ‘space elevator’, which is a proposed method of horizontally scalable spaceflight. It would use a lattice-like structure to hold up to 1,000km of weightless cable and would be operated by a system of orbiting satellites. The idea is not just to get us to space, but also to eventually use space as a way of moving goods and information around the globe.

2026 – when you want to reach space

Motivation for your success

The year 2026 is a pretty significant one in space terms, as it’s when we’re supposed to reach the final stage of our ‘space race’ with Earth. As we’re now well within our technological capabilities to reach this goal, it’s time to put our money where our mouths are and establish a permanent human presence in space. After all, we only have one home and it’s time to make it productive and use it to our advantage. There are some ways you can go about this.

2027 – when your home is in space

Motivation for your success

In 2022, we’ll set a goal for the year 2027 and begin laying the groundwork for our future home in space. By this time, we should have developed the technology and materials required to build a self-sustainable city in space. This will be the base for our colony and it will serve as our ‘showroom’ for the types of goods and services we plan to offer our visitors. Eventually, this will become our ‘city’ in space and make our ‘suite’ for human habitation.

2028 – putting a man on the moon

Motivation for your success

It’s the year 2028 and we’ve made it to the moon, so it’s time to make our mark in space history. This year, we will also attempt to land a man on Mars. If all goes to plan, then we will have taken a giant step toward becoming a space-faring civilization. With the rise of the space tourist industry and rising national budgets for space travel, there’s now a real chance of seeing this come to fruition.

By the end of the century, we will have landed men on the Moon and Mars, established a human presence on other planets, and advanced our technology to the point where we can send a man into space without a spacesuit!

2029 – reaching Mars or other destinations
